Careers Education Plans

Every student will find an individual pathway to University and Career Success based on informed decisions and in-depth Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG). As a school we pride ourselves on preparing our students for progression beyond Sacred Heart.  We do this through a well thought out programme designed specifically to meet the needs of our students.  Our careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) scheme of work is in line with both the CDI Framework for Careers, Employability and Enterprise Education 7-19 and the Gatsby framework.  It  ensures our students are given every opportunity to develop their ideas on future careers.   We work with a wide range of organisations from different industries including the Lloyds Banking Group, Ernst and Young, Thames Water, BT, and  Transport for London. We also work with a variety of educational institutions from primary schools and colleges through to universities and other higher education providers.

Our CEIAG programme is a mixture of small careers events, activities, practical workshops, talks, lectures and visits all designed to encourage our students to explore different career possibilities and think outside of the box.  All of the programmes teach students much needed skills for when they leave education and enter the world of work.

The CEIAG programmes develop our students’ skills and knowledge including:

  • independence
  • appearance - dress for formal environments
  • interaction with professional adults
  • business etiquette skills appropriate for all work environments
  • knowledge of the world of work and further and higher education
  • self-marketing skills
  • labour market
  • resilience and grit

Commitment: The school is committed to providing a planned programme of careers education, information, advice and guidance for all students in Years 7-13 in partnership with outside agencies in order to deliver CEIAG to KS3, KS4 and KS5 learners. The school actively works with committed business partners who support the delivery of CEIAG planned programmes.  The school has a designated careers coordinator who oversees and manages the CEIAG planned programme as well as the Prospects careers advisors.  The careers  coordinator also supports the coordination and running of CEIAG activities.  A member of the senior leadership team has overall responsibility for CEIAG.
